23VIP is a European patent technology company dedicated to advancing the way patent professionals draft patent applications. Our operating principle is simple: the practitioner, not the vendor, should decide how confidential data is processed. That is why our tools let you choose between open-source models hosted in Europe and frontier models used under business terms that prohibit training on your data.

We create solutions that integrate AI into everyday patent practice without forcing users into any single model vendor's workflow. Our goal is to help patent professionals work faster, with greater clarity, and with stronger confidentiality assurances from the first click.

Our Development Journey

Before generative AI became mainstream, 23VIP initiated research projects exploring how machine learning could enhance patent drafting. These early investigations shaped the foundations of our flagship software platforms — Web Drafter, Claim Drafter, and Reply Drafter — designed to streamline drafting and prosecution from initial disclosure to office action response.

Our Vision

We see AI as a natural extension of the modern patent professional’s toolkit, but only if governance and confidentiality are handled seriously. By giving practitioners an explicit choice of model path — open-source European-hosted or frontier — we let them automate time-intensive drafting tasks while keeping control over how confidential data is processed.

Our Commitment

23VIP continuously invests in R&D and security so our tools evolve alongside advances in AI and changes in patent practice. This includes keeping a clear separation between the EU-hosted open-source path and the frontier model path, and giving organizations the ability to restrict which model families their teams may use.

Leadership

23VIP is led by Christophe Ego, a European Patent Attorney and UPC Litigator with nearly two decades of experience in intellectual property. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research. His combined scientific and legal background guides the technical direction and strategic vision of the company.
